State of the World 2002
Worldwatch Institute
Ten years ago, at the Rio Earth Summit, the nations of the world pledged a new era of environmental action and cooperation. How far have we come toward realizing those lofty goals? Not far enough, according to the Worldwatch Institute's report State of the World 2002 (Norton, $29.95). Institute researchers have nevertheless produced a cautiously optimistic, forward-looking document that provides both a wake-up call and a call to action for conferees at the 2002 World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg.
